Sara Beth Wednesday

Since Brandi started back to work last week, Adam is Mr. Mom and also doing some work at home.  So we get to help out by entertaining Sara Beth (or I should say she entertains us) on Wednesdays!  Such a blessing!  We would normally bring her to our house and keep her for the day, but today Adam had a construction project that David was able to help with, so I kept Sara Beth at her house while Adam and David worked outside.

She's almost 16 months old now and always amazes us with the extent of her vocabulary.  She can say, or attempt to say, just about any word you say to her.  She can name all the animals in her books.  Not only the standard "dog", "cat", or "cow" --  this girl even knows "elephant", "ladybug", and "gorilla"!  She's learning to use the word "No" to answer every question (even when she means "Yes), and for some reason she uses the word "yellow" when she means "another", and "tractor" when she means "dirt".  But just saying "yellow" (which she also uses to identify the color) and "tractor" at 15½ months is amazing!  In this Nonni's humble opinion.....we have a genius on our hands!

Here are a few pictures of my day with Sara Beth:

Snack time.  Mmmmm......I LOVE grapes!!

Picking "yellow" flowers at the park

Touching the "tractor" (dirt)

I'm going to the slide, Nonni.  Are you coming?

Here I come!! (She would only slide down backwards.)

Sweet little feet.

Watching the rain.  What a beautiful sight!

Sara Beth is such a joy!  She has such a great sense of humor and makes everything so much fun!  When David and I are keeping her, she is always looking for the one of us that is not in the room at the time.  When David's with her, she asks for "Nonni", and when I'm with her, she asks for "Poopa".  Today, she was really practicing her pronunciation of "Opa".  That made David proud, but to be honest, I kinda like "Poopa" better!  It's so.......Sara Beth!

Some people look forward to Wednesday because it means the week is half over....."hump" day.  We're looking forward to Wednesdays because it's our SARA BETH DAY!!

Charlie Tuesday

We are so blessed to be able to keep our sweet grandson, Charlie, every Tuesday (thank you Carie & Travis)!! He is almost 10 months old now and learning to do so many things.  He's very mobile -- crawling like lightning!  And today he demonstrated to us how fast he could climb stairs. Thank goodness I was right behind him!  He is getting quite verbal, and although we haven't been able to translate most of his "Charlie-ese", yet, we know when he says 'mama' and 'fan'.   His favorite sound is putting his tongue to the roof of his mouth and making the 'r' sound....so it comes out like that rolling 'r' that you would hear in an exotic foreign language.  (Or when you say, "Rrrrruffles have rrrridges." Haha!)  But he knows what he's saying, and he understands what you're saying to him most of the time.  He loves to explore and discover things, pull any hair he can get his hands on, and travel all over the house.  And the one thing he absolutely hates is being put down for a nap!  Here are a few pictures of our day with Charlie:

After I pull up and let go, I can stand by myself!
I'll be walking soon!!

Morning playtime -- digging in the 'toy drawer'

I LOVE my Opa to push me in the swing!!

Cooling off with an afternoon splash!

This is one amazing little boy and we are delighted to spend every moment we can with him.  He is always smiling, and keeps us laughing most of the time.  We love seeing the new things he's learning every week and look forward to our 'Charlie' day every Tuesday!!
