The Circle of Life

Our first grandbaby, Sara Beth, arrived with all the hoopla and happiness you would expect for our firstborn's first baby, and our first grandbaby. She entered this world on May 1st - 7 lbs. 12 oz. - 19 inches long. Beautiful dark wavy hair (which will probably fall out and make way for something totally different), cute pouty lips, and preciously big feet for a baby her size. Does that mean she'll be tall? Oh...the possibilities.

The wave of emotion when I first saw her was overwhelming. I was able to contain the tears, mostly, but I was more concerned that I wouldn't be able to contain my heart. Wow. How do you describe that feeling? Like the Grinch on Christmas, whose heart "grew three sizes that day"? Maybe. Or maybe there are no words.

What amazing experiences she will bring to her parents, Adam and Brandi. And she's part of our lives now, from this day forward, as well as the lives of two other grandparents, two uncles, one aunt, three cousins and one on the way, and numerous other greats and grands, second and other cousins however removed. It is certain her life will be filled with the love of family from all sides.

Isn't it amazing how God continues to use a tiny baby to keep the love going?
